This painting is part of a series of works that showcase Chance Watt's signature medley of realism and total abstraction. Watt illustrates his model using an extensive colour palette that covers most – if not all – of the colour spectrum. Tides of saturated colour wash over the canvas, and concentric circles draw our eyes in and around the composition.
By staying true to his model's likeness regarding facial features, Watt creates an uncanny image that swallows us into his ''extra'' ordinary world.
Although his thought process is spontaneous, there is nothing hasty about this painting or the accompanying works in the series. Watt's process and development may be instinctive, but expert consideration supports each artistic decision behind these large-scale artworks. Watt worked on the series for two years, channelling his creative impulses into unique images from which we cannot tear our eyes.
